THE TIMMELSJOCH

The drive over the Timmelsjoch is in itself an experience. The many attractions and breathtaking views are in any case another reason to choose this High Alpine Road as a route over the Alps.

You leave the motorway at the Ötztal turnoff. After a few hundred metres you come to a roundabout and already boredom is in the past tense when you find

Aqua Dome & Village Museum



Slowly approaching the Timmelsjoch Pass and the High Alpine Road becomes more of an adventure road. On your journey towards Hochgurgl/Obergurgl, you will pass by the small village of Zwieselstein and from here on the road is only uphill. Now follow the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road until you pass the lower station of the Hochgurglbahn. After a few hundred metres you will come to a junction. To the right, the road leads to Obergurgl, take the left road and follow the High Alpine Road to...

Top Mountain Crosspoint

The Top Mountain Crosspoint is a multifunctional, architecturally sophisticated building at 2160m. It offers space for a first-class restaurant, for a magnificent sun terrace with a panoramic view of the Ötztal Alps. The centrepiece is Europe's highest motorbike museum, which impresses not only motorbike fans with over 450 vintage motorbikes on an area of 4,500 m². The Top Mountain Crosspoint also houses the valley station of the Kirchenkarbahn cable car and the new Timmelsjoch toll station.

Border with Italy & Pass Museum

The 3rd station, the “Pass Museum”, is located on the pass. Learn here all about the Timmelsjoch and the High Alpine Road. A special feature – apart from the exceptional architecture – is that the museum dominates like a foundling across the borders of North and South Tyrol.
