The Dock

“The Dock” is located at the toll station in Hochgurgl, still on the North Tyrol side. Here you will find information about the landscape and history of settlements in the high alpine region of Hochgurgl/Obergurgl. Among other things in the exhibition room, you can learn all about the natural monument “Obergurgler Pine Forest” and about the proven scientific effect of the Swiss stone pine on human beings.

As well as the physicist Auguste Piccard, who had to make an emergency landing on the Gurgler Ferner in May 1931 with his stratospheric hot-air balloon, enjoy from “the Dock” impressive panoramic views of the Ötztaler mountain world, with its numerous 3,000m peaks.
